The Applied History course at the Stockholm School of Economics highlights the importance of history for understanding today's world order. It teaches students how a deep historical understanding, a "historical sensibility", can expand their knowledge of contemporary policy issues while providing insights into how important decisionmakers have used and misused history. In 2025, the sixth edition of the course was given.
In accordance with the motto "small groups, big ideas" 14 students participated in seminars led by an international group of scholars about topics from the Peloponnesian War to today's crisis of the international order. This anthology contains the students' final essays from the 2025 course, showcasing how they apply history to contemporary challenges of their own choosing.
